Dental Hygiene for Manatees

Manatees are primarily herbivores,
consuming as much as 10-15% of their body weight daily
in submerged and floating vegetation mixed with sand.
Except for the first three teeth to erupt in each row,
all of their teeth are molars that are constantly being replaced.
New teeth form at the back of the jaw, wear down
as they move forward, and eventually fall out.
Manatees quite often 'floss' their 'marching molars'
on boat anchor lines.
