Why Do I Want To Go Out With Bird's?
Please read below:
WHY
WE ARE THE QUALITY DIFFERENCE
We
are located on the water, so you don't have to drive to a boat ramp
to embark from a different location.
Our early waterfront departure time (meet at 6:15) allows us to
beat the crowds. Most manatees move into sanctuaries when it gets
noisy. We beat the "Private" boats out onto the water. You can be
alone on a boat, but you cannot be alone in the water. There is no
such thing as "private" water. It's not how many are on the
boat ( i.e. 6-pack), it's how many are in the same location. HINT:
come on a weekday.
Stay at the Best Western and walk to our shop, or rent one of our
waterfront homes. Three quality restaurants are within walking distance.
We highly recommend Crackers Bar and Grill.
Our Captains get IN the water to supervise and
assist you, watch over the manatees and shoot your DVD. We do
not just stand on the boat and point in the general location of a
manatee, we call you in when WE find a receptive manatee.
Bird's Underwater is the only operation in
Crystal River in which the owners consistently captain the boats. We
stay in touch with the people and events taking place on the water.
Bill "Bird" and Diane Oestreich have taught diving and guided in
Crystal River for 20 years All tours are educational and conducted
with respect to the manatees first. We show our "Manatee Manners"
video, and give a thorough briefing of laws before boarding and
during the tour.
We provide free hoods for the cold days. Our Children's wetsuits
are 6/5/4 mm thick providing extra warmth for the little ones.
Complimentary
snacks, coffee, hot chocolate, juice, and water are provided on
all tours.
Manatee snorkeling certificates
available upon request.
Manatee Awareness Certification $35.00 upon request. Must
be SCUBA certified. Click
here to see prices, and view
the dive center site for our scuba diving packages.
Do some research - check our
reputation on the many unbiased diver chat networks and trip
advisors.
